FLORIDA STATE LAW
Move over for stopped emergency vehicles
Ok, so here’s an ambulance or fire truck, stopped on the turnpike, most likely near a crash site - which assumes at least moderate activity and possible other stopped emergency vehicles. And apparently you, as a driver on the turnpike (aka redneck or 80 year old), are required by law to not crash into them. Stopped emergency vehicles. Just to be clear, we’re not talking about moving over so they can get through, we’re talking about going around a parked truck. So basically… what you’re telling me… is that drivers in Florida (of souped-up el caminos or white buicks) were ramming into parked ambulances with such frequency that they had to make it ILLEGAL! It’s not “Watch out for stopped emergency vehicles” or “Try not to crash into a stopped emergency vehicle or any stopped vehicle for that matter.” It’s the law! A word of caution is not enough discouragement for these people. Hey Larry, remember the good old days when we could plow right into those ambulances without a care in the world?!
